Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are Universal apps that build upon the breakthrough performance and pro capabilities of macOS® Monterey, and both are available today on the Mac App Store®. And musicians can use up to 3x as many plug-ins for recording on the all-new MacBook Pro with M1 Max. Logic Pro, Apple’s pro music creation software, now comes with a complete set of tools for authoring spatial audio music - allowing anyone to mix and export their songs in Dolby Atmos for Apple Music®. Final Cut Pro also introduces a new Object Tracker that uses machine learning to automatically detect faces and objects, and match their movement to create beautiful, cinema-quality titles and effects on any Mac. Professional video editors using Final Cut Pro on the new MacBook Pro can perform tasks never before possible on a Mac®, like the ability to play seven streams of 8K ProRes™ or color grade 8K HDR video with the new Liquid Retina XDR™ display - a first for any notebook.
But that's exactly what they said (except the "take a hike" part – but that was inferred).CUPERTINO, Calif.-( BUSINESS WIRE)-Apple® today updated Final Cut Pro® and Logic Pro® with powerful new features for creative professionals, and optimizations that take full advantage of the power and performance of the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in the all-new MacBook Pro®. I really can't believe they're telling me to take a hike and just pay for it again. It might have been a pain to do and you'd need to hang on to the dongle, but it could be done. It could ALWAYS be transferred to another machine. I've spent a fortune on professional software over the years. Now, it seems pros are left high and dry as they focus on their wildly profitable "twiddling lifestyle gadgetry" line of products. The graphic design types and other creative professionals helped keep them afloat until they got their first big modern hit with the imac. I've been buying and using macs since 1995 (my industry uses them somewhat exclusively). I've been sent to support, itunes store support, online store support and back to just plain "support". I was specifically told that I cannot transfer the license. Yes, it was bought pre-installed when I bought the machine. I've checked my app store and itunes history and it is not there. Perhaps they've changed this policy now, but if buying a computer with software online with Apple, you'd better double check that it is a "big boy" license and not a "go take a flying expletive deleted at a rolling doughnut" license. $199 isn't going to break me, but I'm not paying as I'm far more pointlessly and righteously stubborn than that. I've been told that I must purchase the software outright.
Sometimes, a new version comes out and an upgrade must be purchased. I was told that the license is entirely non-transferable between computers (even if the computer has gone kaput?).
It seems at this point (5 emails, 2 chats with customer service) Apple is not honoring my Logic Pro X purchase of 2014 whatsoever. I have to get a new one (for work – I'm self-employed).
I bought the optional Logic Pro X installed at the same time ($199).įast forward 4 years and the Macbook dies. In 2014, I bought a Macbook Pro direct from Apple online for work. Just thought I should share my experience.
